Hello there! 👋

I'm José, a Software & Platform Engineer with an unconventional journey. After studying computer science I spent two years as a surf instructor in Portugal — teaching patience, reading conditions, and helping people overcome challenges. It was during that detour that I first ran into Docker through a third-party tool and became fascinated by containerization.

Today, I channel that same passion for simplifying complexity into infrastructure automation and self-hosted solutions. Whether I'm deploying containers, scripting with Ansible, or building web applications, I focus on creating systems that just work — elegantly and reliably.

Based in Munich, Germany. I work in system administration and platform engineering, with a background in web development and DevOps.

I speak Portuguese (native), English, and German — which comes in handy when collaborating across international teams or diving into documentation from different communities.

What Drives Me

I believe the best solutions are the ones that disappear into the background — infrastructure that scales quietly, automation that prevents problems before they happen, and tools that empower teams rather than burden them.

My approach combines technical rigor with the communication skills I developed teaching people to navigate the ocean.

When I'm not checking the latest about programming and security, I'm most likely watching a movie, reading, or riding my bike.
